Ah! I’ve been so excited to share this post! I know the holidays look very different for most (this is the first year we are not seeing my family) and I wanted to do something fun in light of a challenging time. I decided to bring the inside – outside!!! and create a magical setting that will be remembered for a lifetime. Totally adding this to the annual tradition list and triple bonus that it’s Covid-safe! An outdoor movie theater is something I’ve wanted for ages, and what better time than the present to check this off my list? I can’t wait to bring this out in the summertime for sunset movies, or for cozy winter bonfires in the backyard. It even works well indoors (against a wall, or with the movie screen) – the options are endless! Best purchase ever!
Bed Bath & Beyond is my go-to for seasonal decor, holiday entertaining and everyday essentials. They have been a longtime partner of Happily Inspired, and I’m so grateful for this relationship! Their site is very easy to navigate, and I’m always finding inspiration while I shop. They recently launched an outdoor entertaining section in light of current times: so many great finds (and where I found inspiration for an outdoor movie theater). I’m also a member of their Beyond+ membership. It’s an annual membership that gives 20% off your entire order each time you shop! So long are the days of finding coupons. So seamless, easy and worth it! This is another great gift idea for the guy/gal in your life that has everything.
For the outdoor movie inspiration, I wanted to make it really whimsical, festive and fun. I love the National Lampoon’s Christmas Moose mugs the most! So many cute details that really brought the experience together! String lights, twinkling trees, pillows, basket of blankets, wreaths behind the chairs, etc.

This is the exact movie projector I purchased (it’s bluetooth enabled and got raving reviews). I also purchased this screen to go with it. It works well indoors/outdoors. Note: you don’t necessarily need a screen because the projector works wonderfully against a flat/blank wall, garage, etc. I just loved the ‘drive-in’ movie theater feel so went with it!
