I recently shared my ‘not-so-pretty’ behind the scenes of blogging — sometimes, things appear a lot prettier on Instagram, or behind a screen. Truth is, I have been struggling to find my confidence (especially with bikini-season around the corner, eek!). I know I’m not alone, we’ve all been there — when you’re feeling super down on yourself. Let’s abandon this feeling all-together with these 5 ways on lovin’ yourself to the fullest! XX
1. YOU ARE WHO YOU HANGOUT WITH
If you hangout with a dark cloud, you’ll become one! Choosing to be around caring, supportive people will make all the difference. Negativity is contagious. I know we don’t always have a choice (in the workplace), but we do have a choice in our personal relationships. Kick those toxic people to the curb (gently), they don’t deserve you & your mind/body will thank-you in full.
2. FIND YOUR PASSION
Since work is a big part of our life, make sure to find something fulfilling and important to YOU. I recently took the plunge to work part-time (more about that later!) It’s a huge sacrifice, yes — but, I already notice a difference in my happiness, relationships and overall mood. I started hating myself for who I became 9-5. I was completely miserable.
3. FEEL YOUR FEELINGS
Feeling sad? That’s okay — listen to your body, but let it pass shortly after. Ignoring your feelings will leave you feeling rejected, abandoned and confused. Your body is your temple, always put it first & listen!
4. WRITE YOURSELF A LOVE NOTE
After-all, we have to fall in love with ourselves first, before everything else can fall into place. Take time to write yourself a sweet message (short, or long) and read it to yourself when you’re feeling low. Whenever I’m feeling anxious or sad, I’ll write a ‘note’ in my iPhone — I always feel a little better once it’s out of my head! What have you accomplished over the last few months? What are your favorite characteristics about yourself? A great place to start…
5. TAKE QUIET TIME
You guys, this is so important. I take this time at night (when I take my bath) — to reflect on the day, and release any frustrations/tensions that are stuck inside! I highly recommend a meditation app (Headspace is a personal favorite). When you get in touch with yourself, you can better appreciate yourself and the amazing love you have to offer.
I’m a firm believer in taking your quiet time too, and your “me” time. Taking a day to myself to do the things that I love every month or so really helps to keep me happy 🙂
