Since Valentines Day is right around the corner, I thought it would be the perfect excuse to do another try-on haul! (readers recommendation) I thought about doing the best ‘date night’ look, but decided to put a little spin on it. Does anyone else love a good Galentines on the town? Don’t get me wrong – love my hubby and any excuse to get wined/dined. I just felt compelled to share that it’s not just for the couples. It’s a great time to celebrate the people you love, and let’s face it – besties are always there for us.
Naturally, I ventured off to Woodfield Mall.
For my regular readers, you know this isn’t my first rodeo. It’s one of the largest shopping malls in the US, and has over 2 million square feet of retail. Speaking of girlfriends, we always shop here on black Friday. Been a tradition since we were teens! For this try on haul, I wanted to focus on my go-to’s: Anthropologie and Nordstrom. Both of these stores offer a little something for everyone, and the quality is excellent.
Oh, and they’re next door to each other, so makes shopping a breeze. Anything to simplify shopping with a toddler, right? I wanted to focus on mainly casual looks. Doesn’t always have to be sexy/overdone. Personally, I find them to be a tad cheesy (but this is just me!) While it is fun dressing up, I honestly prefer the comfortable, casual route. A great excuse to buy something new for the spring wardrobe, too! Counting down the days, ya’ll! What are your plans for Valentines Day?

VALENTINES DAY OUTFITS TRY ON
Nordstrom is always my g0-to when it comes to a new outfit! It’s a one stop shop for just about everything: fashion, home decor, beauty and fitness. They also have price points at every level/budget. This knot midi dress dress is under $70, and beyond flattering. Hides my mom pooch, and it’s still a bit sexy! It’s also extremely comfortable – could even wear it to sleep! Would also be a cute option for upcoming baby/wedding showers. We’re about to be in the thick of that season soon enough. WEARING: SIZE 8 (runs true to size, maybe a tad larger)
Going super basic here! Who doesn’t love an off the shoulder top? Anthropologie is my obsession when it comes to finding unique pieces. The quality is unparalleled and I can wear it with just about anything. Denim skirt, linen shorts, etc. A great shirt to wear on those chilly summer nights, too! Obviously the perfect choice for Valentines Day, but love that you can wear year round. WEARING: SIZE M (it does hug your body, so keep that in mind).
One of my favorite looks from the day. This Anthropologie blush off-the-shoulder sweater is so flirty and fun! Loose, breathable and girly. Over 20 5-star reviews too (so clearly I’m not the only one). Wearing a medium, and comes in a bunch of colors. I wore this cute blue hat for a color punch — it’s seriously SO cute.
Since I’m totally over the polar vortex in Chicago, I need a pick-me-up! This floral shaw is chic and versatile. Naturally, I just had to try it on. I can’t find the link online, but Woodfield just got a bunch in, so definitely worth a visit! It’s so soft, too. I paired with denim, and a white tee. Would also be cute over a dress for a flirty punch.
Loving this vintage belted skirt, (wearing 8) and wrap top (wearing 6) combo. Immediately screamed Valentines Day to me! Very flattering, too. Again, all about wearing color on this romantic holiday. So over the snow in Chicago! Could have stayed in Anthropologie for hours — my happy place.
Another combo I thought looked fun. Polka dotted scalloped skirt and an embroidered top. I do think it would pair better with something a bit tighter up top, just couldn’t find the right look in-store. I couldn’t find these looks online (usually the store will have it in first!) so check this link for some similar options.
Excuse the horrible lighting (doesn’t even do this sequin peplum top justice) but thought it was so much fun! If you’re looking to step up your Valentines Day, this is totally your option. I paired with black shorts, but would look just as cute with jeans if you prefer the casual route. Yes, sequin is always casual.
A ray of sunshine at the dinner table. What polar vortex? If you feel like wearing butter to dinner, then this is most definitely your bet! I could barely take it off. I love the pop of color in this cardigan, and no, it doesn’t always have to be red. The point of Valentines Day is to dress up for you!
Thanks to Woodfield Mall for sponsoring this post. As always, opinions are entirely my own.
