As many of you know, we bought a house last year. It’s definitely been a slow design process, but I’m absolutely loving the journey. My favorite room of the house is Harlow’s floral nursery (naturally) It was the first room to be completed, and I am so happy with how it turned out. It gives me all of the feels, and it’s exactly how I envisioned it. Kevin and I worked on it all by ourselves, which is a huge victory! (I didn’t exactly marry a handyman, ha) We also furnished our bedroom — for home decor- I aimed for clean, bright, chic & cozy. I absolutely love the oversized tufted chairs at the foot of the bed. A great little reading nook pre-bed. (but who am I kidding, I haven’t read in months!) I am currently on the hunt for some gold sconces to hang on each side of the bed. I’m thinking about grabbing these, so affordable (and no electrician required). I’m also in the process of working on my office, seriously obsessed with it so far and cannot wait to share with you very soon! It was one of the many reasons I fell in love with this house. I’m a firm believer that a creative space is essential in my line of work! The built in shelving is beautiful, and the perfect place to store all of my trinkets (that I 100% blame Target for – they have the cutest home decor!)

One of the cons of the home is the kitchen. I’m not crazy about it, and it’s pretty small for our layout. In a perfect world, we’d break down the wall to the dining room and expand. But, that’s extremely costly, and something we can’t swing for a bit! Since this is a room we spend a lot of our time in (here’s a picture of the seating area), I’m starting to dream up some ideas for the petite space. I’ve been seeing this ‘floating shelves’ trend around Pinterest, and I’m completely in love. I admire the rustic features and non-white undertones. Is it just me, or is anyone else growing tired of the all-white trend? While I used to be a fan, I’ve since grown tired of seeing the same thing everywhere! Add a pop of color to enhance the space. open shelves are an inexpensive way to add depth, and character. They’re also easy to assemble. You can get extremely creative with styling — from pretty cookbooks, decorative accents, to chic flatware/cutlery. I like how (pictured below) they added a retro radio, and plant. I’m also crushing on backsplash, but that’s for another day! See my favorite floating shelves below, and let me know your thoughts! Stay tuned for more home-decor to come!
