EEEK! The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2020 is here! This is my favorite sale of the year because fall/designer staples go on sale for 40% off! I always pick up holiday gifts, too! I went a little crazy last year (see what I scooped here) so I will be very selective with my picks this time around. Definitely snagging some Barefoot Dreams items (the SOFTEST) and since we will be home all winter — most definitely worth the mini investment. My strategy for this sale has certainly changed over the years. Here’s my plan of attack and some important notes to remember:

IMPORTANT

Invest in higher-end pieces since they will be on sale. I’d rather spend $160 on a cashmere sweater that goes with everything and will actually hold up for years to come. I used to buy 3-4 cardigans (lower quality) and while they are fun to have, they just don’t hold up as long. Felt like I was throwing away money at the end of the day. Quality over quantity all day long! The Nordstrom sale is. the perfect time to buy designer pieces because they’re brand new, in season for a fraction of the price.
Have a plan: Don’t overspend. After all, we’re in the midst of a pandemic. I know a lot of bloggers cover this sale (it’s a high-earning period) and it may feel like you’re getting persuaded to buy buy buy. Please remember: THIS IS OUR JOB. We make money from this sale. Make sure you make a list of what you’re in need of. Whether home, everyday staples, pajamas, etc. No need to max out your credit card — I’ve been there. Additionally, my business took a hit. I lost several deals and will be taking that into account with this sale.
I will NOT be going in store this year for try-ons. Personally found it frustrating that so many bloggers were doing try-ons without a mask on! The dressing room is not pandemic-free. Stay home if you can, people! No judgements if you choose to go into store, just please wear a mask to protect others and yourself.
You can now PREVIEW the sale ahead of time, and save all items to your wish-list (basically your cart) so you can check-out right away with ease! So long are the days of me pulling an all nighter for you guys! Now you can REALLY strategize and not ‘race to buy’ with the fear of things selling out. Guess what, if it sells out — it sells out. Most of the time, you’ll see the same pieces come back for the same price around the holidays. Try to have the mentality ‘not meant to be’ so you’re not in a spending hole. Again, I’ve been there. Sometimes the ‘want what I can’t have’ mentality comes to play with this sale. Just try to stick to the script.
