One of my favorite places to escape for the day is located only 15 miles outside the city limits – Burr Ridge Village Center. It’s always a fresh of breath air getting out of the hustle and bustle, shopping with ease (a collection of national retailers/independent boutiques) and simplifying holiday needs with a one-stop shop for everyone on my list. It’s also home to my favorite restaurant: Hampton Social (They also have a downtown Chicago location).
Last week, I got together with Nicole (trying to soak in every minute before her baby arrives!) and we shopped our lil’ hearts out! Below, I’m sharing some of our go-to retailers and activities for the ultimate gal’s day out-of-the-town (did you see what I did there?) We’ve already promised ourselves massages at Kohler Water Spa on the next visit – yes, please! Make sure to follow along on IG for some behind the scenes of the day!
Stay up to date on all things Happily Holidays!
BURR RIDGE RESTAURANTS | SHOPPING | FUN
Gymboree is one of my absolute favorite places to shop for little Harlow. The prices are unbeatable (the entire store is up to 70% off) and they’re home to the latest trends, including: all things velvet! I can’t even handle this velvet puffer jacket, and matching mittens. It’s also fun to see Nicole as a first-time-mama admiring all the cuteness. She’s only a couple of months away from meeting her mini!
Would it even be the holidays without a Bath and Body Works candle? I think not. I’ve been shopping at BBW for many years, and it’s always a home-run in the gift department. Some of my personal favorite scents include: vanilla bean noel, marshmallow fireside, forest flurries and merry mimosa. It’s also where I get hand soaps for the house — I always take advantage of the holiday sales. (Crazy candle lady here) Christmas always comes early when I step inside this wonderland! You, too?
Eddie Bauer is a must-stop for the adventurers in your life! Although, if you’re looking for a cozy flannel shirt — this is definitely your place, too. I’m a big fan of their outerwear (toasty, cozy and versatile) and the hundreds of 5-star reviews confirm it. If you’re on the hunt for a new winter jacket, I highly recommend this lodge down duffle coat. Fleece lining in the upper body, and the interior storm cuffs provide additional protection which is key in Chicago! Oh, and it’s double water-repellent to get you through those bipolar weather days. Eddie Bauer definitely has something for everyone in the family, so I always make it a must to stop here!
Founded by a stay-at-home-mom, Evereve is for the mama who’s balancing it all! The store features dozens of brands from: 7 for all Mankind, Free People, Paige Denim, Sorel, Sam Edelman and so many more (see the entire list here). Everything will make you feel put together, while still feeling relaxed and comfortable. I fell in love with the Peyton Jensen pullover (perfect for everyday) and the denim selection is plentiful. They even have ‘Kut from the Kloth’ which is a denim brand I am obsessed with. Fits my postpartum body perfectly and beyond soft!
Our last stop of the day (but certainly not least!) includes my absolute favorite of the day: Hampton Social. You guys have probably seen the infamous ‘rosè all day’ wall that’s literally made for your IG feed. The restaurant has a vacay vibes feel with swinging hammock chairs, and the menu has something for literally everyone! To warm up from the weather, Nicole and I both enjoyed a delicious tomato bisque soup with parmesan and pesto. Ah, it’s seriously one of the best soups I’ve ever had! The steak frites are always a must, smash burger (double patty, cheddar, house mustard aioli, egg bun) and Montauk chicken wings are crispy and flavorful. Don’t forget to indulge in their daily rosè specials that are perfect for after-work-meet-ups or a gal’s day out with friends! What are your favorite Burr Ridge restaurants? Share below!
